Alwena, A. Dolieslager, age 83 of Sioux Center died Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Sioux Center Health.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 30, 2018 at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, IA with Rev. Rog Voskuil officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
A visitation will be Sunday, July 29th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm with the family present at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
Alwena Dolieslager was born on March 15, 1935 to John and Dora (Riedstra) Van Dyke, in Rapelje, Montana. The family moved to Fremont, Michigan in March of 1944 when Alwena was nine years old. She attended Fremont Christian School, and graduated from Fremont High School in 1953. After graduation she moved to Sheldon, Iowa, where she was employed by Prins Insurance in Sanborn.
Alwena was united in marriage to Gerald Dolieslager, of Sioux Center, on March 15, 1957 at the Sheldon Christian Reformed Church. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
Alwena and Gerald spent their married life living on an acreage by Sioux Center where Gerald had a trucking business. Alwena was a child day care provider for many years, and helped her husband in the upholstery business. Later, she worked for the Big Dutch in Sioux Center.
Alwena is survivived by her two children; Carol (Bryan) Vande Stouwe, of Hull, IA, and Gary (Teri) Dolieslager of Sioux Center, IA; four grandchildren, Jerad (Emma) Kiers, Levi Dolieslager, Jacob (Kendra) Dolieslager, Mitchell (Jennifer) Kiers; five step grandchildren, Travis (Alex) Vande Stouwe, Brad Vande Stouwe, Amanda (Bryan) Turner, Tyler (Melissa) Majerus, and Ryan Majerus; eleven great grandchildren; her brother, Abe (Everdean) Van Dyke; sister-in-law Doreen Van Dyke; brother-in-law Corwin (Harriet) Dolieslager; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her siblings, Tom (Bertha) Van Dyke, Albert Van Dyke, Jessie (Ken) Lemmer, Henrietta (Leonard) Tellinghuisen; and a granddaughter, Carly Kiers.
