Margaret Sybesma

     Margaret Sybesma, 89, of Sheldon, IA formerly of Sioux Center, IA died Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Sanford Hospital in Sheldon, Iowa.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday July 9, 2018 at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating.  Interment will follow the funeral service in the Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

      Visitation will be held on Sunday July 8th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     Margaret Sybesma was born November 21, 1928, the daughter of Gerrit and Hattie (Gerritsen) Vande Kamp on the family farm west of Sioux Center.  She attended country school and graduated from Sioux Center Community School.

     On January 4, 1950, Margaret married John A. Meendering.  The couple lived near Carmel, IA, before making their home east of Sioux Center where they farmed together for 20 years.  To this marriage four daughters were born.  In 1972, they moved to a home in Hospers, IA.  John passed away on December 7, 1974, due to complications of stomach cancer.  After John’s death, Margaret moved back to Sioux Center and was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church.

     Margaret went to work as a house cleaner to support her young family.  She later was employed helping customers at the Radio and TV Center, in Hull.

     Margaret met and married Syne Sybesma on May 15, 1993.  Syne passed away on May 21, 1998.

     Being one of nine children, family was important to Margaret.  Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her great joy.

     Left to cherish her memory are her four daughters: Beverly and Dennis Jansen of Sioux Center, IA; Gail and Butch Anderson of Sheldon, IA; Leah and David Samudio of Surprise, AZ; Kristin and Keith Kleinwolterink of Sheldon, IA; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six sisters: Wilmina Kraayenbrink of Hull, IA; Alvina Punt of Sioux Center, IA; Henrietta Sneller of Sioux Center, IA; Gracia and Lloyd Punt of Pipestone, MN; Gert and Don Vos of Ripon, CA; Helen Mulder of Munster, IN; sister-in-law, Delores and Leonard Leenderts of Hills, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
     
    She is preceded in death by two husbands: John Meendering and Syne Sybesma; her parents, Gerrit and Hattie Vande Kamp; brothers, Gerrit Vande Kamp and Gerald Vande Kamp; brothers-in-law, Asa Kraayenbrink, Donald Punt, Harold Sneller and Edwin Mulder.
