On June 26, 1963, Don was joined in marriage to Hermina Schuurman in Rock Rapids. During the last few weeks, Don talked frequently about their 55th wedding anniversary that is coming up on Tuesday. The couple lived in Lester, Iowa where Don worked for the Lester Grain and Feed Elevator.  The couple later moved to Sioux Center.  Over the years, Don worked for SiouxPreme Packing Company, Iowa Plastics and at AJS farms. He most recently worked for Walmart in Sioux Center. Don and Hermina moved to the Regency Retirement Residence of Sioux Center in October of 2017.

Don was proud to have been a member of the Air National Guard of Sioux Falls where he served for many years.  He also was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center.

In his free time, Don enjoyed collecting John Deere toy tractors, Burlington Northern model trains, watching his Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs when they won the World Series. Over the years he spent many hours in his shop making bird feeders and other projects he could tinker with. He could often be found watching his grandson’s soccer games and spoiling the great grand dogs.

Don is survived by his wife, Hermina Borman of Sioux Center; two daughters, Denise and Steve Boer of Sioux Center, Stacy and Steve Spaans of Rock Valley; four grandchildren: Amanda and Caleb Van Der Brink of Sioux Center, Abigail Boer of Sioux Center, Makinsy and Kyle Donlin of Sioux Falls, Jordan Brantsen of Rock Valley; sister, Marlys and Carter Anderson of Beresford, SD; a brother, Darold and Laura Borman of Brandon, SD; his nieces and nephews; and his great grand dogs: Daisy, Spirit, Zeppelin, Cooper, Holly and Shadow.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Violet Borman; and his in-laws, John and Grace Schuurman.
