Marvin Boone entered heaven the same day he entered earth 83 years ago. He died at his home in Sioux Center, IA, with his family by his side on his birthday, Thursday, February 15, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Pastor Van Rathbun officiating.
A prayer service for family and friends will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19th at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Interment with military honors will follow the prayer service at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 18th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM, with the family present at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

Marvin Allen Boone was born on February 15, 1935 in Sioux Center, IA the son of William and Carrie (Ver Steeg) Boone. Marv grew up in Sioux Center and graduated from the Sioux Center public school. After high school he served his country with great pride in the United States Navy from 1953 – 1957 until he was honorably discharged, and returned home. On December 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Donna Heinsma in Rock Rapids, IA. They made their home in Cicero, IL where he attended DeVry Technical Institute in the Electronics Technician Program. He and Donna returned to Sioux Center where he worked as an electrician and TV repairman. In 1962, they purchased Joe’s Lunch, which later became Marv’s Lunch, which he owned for 15 years. From 1976 until he retired in 2001 he owned Louie’s Leather, in downtown Sioux Center. Marv was an active member of Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center where he served on the Consistory as Deacon and church treasurer along with helping with mission projects and making wooden figures for the Children in Worship program. He also was an active member of the Sioux Center Jaycees and the local volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking and took great pride in being a handyman – he even built much of his own home. The family fondly remembers his attendance at grandchildren’s sporting events and their annual fishing vacations to Minnesota. Marv was blessed with a loving wife and a beautiful family, which he cherished dearly, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna of Sioux Center, IA; their children, Debra (Steve) Kraayenbrink of Pella, IA; Douglas (Janet) Boone of Sioux Center, IA; Keith (Sharla) Boone of Sioux Center, IA and Kathy (Mark) Davis of Webster City, IA; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; sisters, June Vanden Berg, Joan Den Hartog, Karen (Irv) De Boer, Ruth (Gib) Meyer of Sioux Center, IA., and Carol (Ray) Sneller, Judy (Ivan) Friese, of Parker, SD, Lillian Hogan of Artesia, CA; Audrey (Elmer) Gesink of Orange City, IA; and brother Dr. Ray (Hazel) Boone of Jacksonville, TX, and sister-in-law Ruth Boone of Sioux Center, IA.
Marv was preceded in death by his parents, William and Carrie; brothers, William D., Vernon, and Kenneth Boone; sister, Ann Cochran; brother-in-laws, Jim Cochran, Ted Vanden Berg, Paul Den Hartog and Norm Hogan.
