Grace Klein

      Grace Klein, 87, of Sioux Center, IA, died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.

     A memorial service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, February 16th at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Carl Klompein officiating.

     A prayer service for family and friends will be held at 10:00AM at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center.  Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.

     A visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, February 15th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

     Grace Klein was born April 29, 1930 to Walter and Nancy (De Vries) Blom at the family farm west of Sioux Center, Iowa.  She attended country school and graduated from Sioux Center High School.

     She was united in marriage to Charles Klein on December 19, 1950 at her parents’ home.  Together they lived and raised their family on a farm west of Sioux Center.  Grace and Charles spent their entire marriage living and farming together. While helping with the farming duties, she also maintained a vegetable garden, canning and freezing the produce.  On July 29, 2016, her husband Charles passed away after 65 years of marriage.  She moved to an apartment at Franken Manor, where she lived until entering the Royale Meadows Care Center on December 26, 2017.

     Grace was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center.  She enjoyed sewing clothes, quilts and made homemade soap for the old wringer washing machine. She displayed items at the fair many years.  She also enjoyed board games, puzzles, Scrabble, writing family history and was an avid reader of the newspaper and many magazines.

     She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Klein of Sioux Center, IA; two sons, Wayne (Pam) Klein of Sioux Center, IA and Robert (Judy Schreur-Klein) Klein of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter-in-law, Nancy Klein of Des Moines, IA; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Groenewold of Western Springs, IL and Jennie (Bill) De Besten of Rock Valley, IA; two brothers, Walter (Evelyn) Blom of Rock Valley, IA and Ray (Sue) Blom of San Antonio, TX and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Klein; son, Leroy Klein; a granddaughter, Jodi Klein; and brother-in-law, Clarence Groenewold.
