Hans and Sadie (Tamminga) Faber brought their son, Howard Lee, into the world on November 24, 1938, a real Thanksgiving gift! Shortly thereafter, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa, they presented him to the Lord for infant baptism into the eternal covenant of grace. As Howard grew (up to 6 ft. 4 in.) and matured in the Lord under the teaching of his parents and godly men and women in his church, he made a profession of his faith to promise that:
As a young man, he met and married Garneth Sybesma in 1961 in that same church building. Howard promised to love, honor and maintain Garneth in the divine ordinance of marriage as a symbol of Christ and his Church. Howard was faithful to his Lord, worshiping faithfully each Sabbath Day. Moving to San Marcos, CA in 1967, Howard and his family were faithful members for more than 50 years while establishing roots in what is now the Escondidio United Reformed Church. Howard was faithful to his vocation. Various aspects of the construction industry were mainly his forte. The final 33 years of his working life were spent in various batch plants for Superior Ready Mix in Escondidio. He had a strong work ethic characterized by his dedication to his job, not even missing days to illness. Howard was faithful to his wife, Garneth, for 56 years and a devoted father to four sons, Lynn Howard, Lance William, Chad Evan and Nathan Daniel, each taller than their father. His legacy includes more than a dozen grandchildren.
Howard's leisure time was filled with woodworking, home improvement projects (most often for others), watching college basketball on TV, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Surviving sisters are Leona Noteboom, Evelyn ( Hank ) Pruim, and sister-in- law, Marilyn Faber. Howard is predeceased by son, Lance and siblings, Joyce and Chester.
