Ila Cleveringa

     Ila Cleveringa, age 83, of Sioux Center, IA, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.

     Memorial service will be 10:30 AM Friday, December 15, 2017 at First Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. Steve Breen officiating.  Family prayer service will be at 9:30 AM at the Church with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

     Visitation will be Thursday, December 14th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.

     Memorials may be directed to Sioux Center Health Hospice and Homecare.

     Ila Mae Cleveringa was born April 9th, 1934 at Ireton, Iowa the child of George and Henrietta (Borgman) De Boer.  She attended Sioux Center High School where she graduated in 1951.  Ila was united in marriage to Tunis Cleveringa on April 28th, 1955 at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.  The couple made their home in Sioux Center.  Ila worked downtown at Boeyink’s Grocery Store and then for dentist Dr. Bernard Mouw.  Later she worked as a sales associate for Vander Berg Furniture.  She was an excellent cook.  Family will always remember her many wonderful dishes.  She also enjoyed a good game of cards and vacationing at Okoboji.  But mostly Ila loved spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren.  She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center.

     Ila is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Scott) Boyer of West Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Sara (Peter) Gao of Naperville, IL and Brett Boyer also of Naperville, IL; brother, Irwin (Karen) De Boer of Sioux Center; sister, Norma (Marv) Korver of LeMars, IA; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John and Marjorie Cleveringa and Garold and Chris Cleveringa all of Sioux Center; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Wilma and Harry Kraayenbrink, Margaret and Lee Erickson all of Sioux Center, Fran and Denny Vollink of Hull; and sister-in-law, Theresa Cleveringa of Sioux Center.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Henrietta De Boer; her husband of 62 years, Tunis Cleveringa; daughter, Lora Cleveringa; grandsons, Michael and Matthew Boyer; brother, Theran De Boer and his wives Wilma and Lillian; sister, Audrey Heemstra and her husband Merlyn;  sister, Colleen De Boer; and brother, Leon De Boer.
