Gertrude Rozeboom

     Gertrude Rozeboom, 84, of Sioux Center, IA passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at her home in Sioux Center.

 

     Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 11th at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center, IA, with Reverend Jamie Dykstra officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Sioux Center.

 

     Visitation will be Friday, November 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with family present at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

 

Memorials may be directed to: Crossroads Bible Institute and/or Hope Haven.

 

     Gertrude Marilyn Rozeboom was born May 20, 1933 to Art and Katherine (Hofland) Schuiteman in Sioux Center, Iowa. She was raised on a farm 2 miles east of Sioux Center and attended country school, Sioux Center Junior High and graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1952. She continued her education at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA and received her teacher’s certificate. Gertrude began teaching country school for a short while before becoming the Sioux Center High School secretary.  

 

     Gertrude was united in marriage to Marion “Bud” Rozeboom on January 18, 1956. Together they raised four children and owned and operated Rozeboom Trucking for nearly 30 years. Gertrude was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center, where she served the Lord in many capacities over the years. She was a dedicated care giver to her family and friends, including the families of her dear sisters who relied on her often. She cherished her children and grandchildren, valuing the time they spent together and showering them with mementos. Her greatest joy was attending their many graduation ceremonies. Her family will remember their wife, mother and grandmother as a strong, devoted person who encouraged her family to follow their dreams.

 

     She is survived by husband of nearly 62 years, Marion “Bud” Rozeboom; four children, daughter, Linda (H. Robert) Goltz of Midland, MI, their children Eric Goltz, Christopher (Natalie) Goltz, Abby (Brandon) King, son, Jerry (LuEllyn) Rozeboom of Walker, IA, their children, Lee (Karoline) Rozeboom, Laine (Ben) Boesenberg, and Lance (Kristin) Rozeboom, son Dale (Patricia) Rozeboom of Janesville, WI, their children, Mark Rozeboom, Marie (Andrew) de Stadler and Molly Rozeboom, daughter, Pam (Paul) Beaver of Sioux Center, IA, their children, Kaitlin (Ryan) Hoogeveen, Rees Beaver and Madison Beaver; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Goltz, Elijah Goltz, Lincoln King, Piper King, Lucia Louise Rozeboom, Theodore Rozeboom, Matilda Rozeboom, Jared Boesenberg, Remington Boesenberg, Lance Rozeboom and Annabelle Grace de Stadler; three sisters, Arta (Marvin) Schoep, Rosalie Prins and Ruth (Ivan) Mulder.

 

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Katherine Schuiteman; first husband, James L. Den Herder; sister, Wilma De Boer; and infant brother.
