Norman G. Snieder was born May 26, 1942 in Sioux Center, the son of Henry and Wilhelmina (Bonnema) Snieder.  He was raised in Sioux Center and received his education at Sioux Center schools.  On October 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sharon Vander Vliet at Carmel Reformed Church.  Norman worked as a farm hand and then at Kooima Machine Works in Rock Valley.  He sold Kirby vacuum cleaners for many years and also opened and operated Modern Footwear shoe store in Sioux Center. In 1978, Norman founded Snieder Insurance and Financial Group in Sioux Center where Kelly carries on the family business today. He truly enjoyed the interaction with his customers and loved his work.  Norman loved people and his community.  He was a very caring and giving person and served his community in many ways over the years.  He was a member of several boards including the Sioux Center Hospital board, Chamber board and Centre Mall board.  He was actively involved with the Chamber of Commerce and very instrumental in starting the Indoor Fair in Sioux Center 45 plus years ago.  Norman and Sharon enjoyed spending time together at their Okoboji cabin.  He enjoyed boating and cruising the lake or just sitting and looking at the beautiful water.  Throughout their marriage, they were able to travel to many places both in this country and abroad.  The adventures they shared will live on as wonderful memories.  He was a charter member and served on the building committee of Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center where he served as an elder and Sunday school teacher for many years.  Norman loved life and made the most of it with his family and friends.  He was a very positive person and would share his faith with others out of genuine concern.  But mostly, Norman loved spending time with his family and friends.  On April 5th, Norman passed away at the Sioux Center Health Hospital at the age of 74.  He will be greatly missed.

Norman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon Snieder; son, Kevin (Janie) Snieder of Sioux City and sons, Joshua of Sioux Center, Jonah and Ethan of Sioux City; son, Kelly (Carrie) Snieder of Sioux Center; sister, Helen Klomp of Rock Valley; sisters-in-law, Lois Snieder of Orange City and Harriet Snieder of Sioux Center;  along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; brothers, Warren and Burton; and brother-in-law Marvin Klomp.
