Louise Van Der Schaaf, age 106 of Center, TX formerly of Sioux Center, IA died on Friday, October 28, 2016 at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Center, TX.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 5th at First Reformed Chapel in Sioux Center, IA, with Rev. Travis Else and Rev. Roger Voskuil, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 5th from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at the church in Sioux Center.
Louise Van Der Schaaf was born on August 6, 1910, on the family farm near Carmel, Iowa, to John and Wilhelmina (Mouw) Schoep. Louise attended country school through the eighth grade. She went one year in 1925 to Sioux Center High School. She and her brother (Will) went back and forth everyday with horse and buggy. On March 19, 1935, Louise was united in marriage to John I. Van Der Schaaf in their pastor’s home in Carmel, Iowa. Following their marriage they lived 1 mile west of Sioux Center on his father’s acreage, and there they farmed with his dad. They raised 3 children, daughter Jean and two sons, Ivan and Merril. Louise enjoyed making many piece quilts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting and tatting many doilies. She always loved reading God’s Holy Word and memorized many scriptures. Her favorite verses were; Isaiah 53, Psalm 34, and several verses from Romans. Louise was welcomed to her heavenly home at the age of 106 on October 28, 2016 at the home of her son Ivan and wife Wanda Van Der Schaaf in Texas.
Louise is survived by her three children, Jean Van Meekeren of Okoboji, IA; Ivan & Wanda Van Der Schaaf of Center, Texas; and Merril & Marilyn Van Der Schaaf of Pattonville, Texas; along with 13 Grandchildren; 35 Great-Grandchildren; 15 Great-Great-Grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joan Brenneman; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband John (The couple were married 51 years when John went onto his heavenly home on February 27, 1986); her parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, and son-in-law Clarence Van Meekeren.
