Ethel Hoogland

          Ethel Hoogland, 92 years old, formerly of Hospers, IA, died on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.

          Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2016, at First Christian Reformed Church in Hospers with Rev. Marvin Leese officiating. There will be a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, IA, with interment to follow the prayer service at Hospers Cemetery in Hospers, IA.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.  Services have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent online to [email protected].

          Ethel was born June 29, 1923, at Carmel, IA, the daughter of Richard and Sarah (DeVries) Hulstein. She graduated from Plato #5 country school.

  On June 5, 1946 she married Alfred at her family’s farm in Carmel, IA. The couple lived in Hospers for 56 years. She had been a resident of Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center, IA, for 9 years.  Ethel and Alfred were looking forward to their 70th wedding anniversary in June.   Ethel was a housewife and a seamstress, specializing in weddings. She was involved in Trash for Cash and Ladies Bible Study with the church.

 Survivors include: her husband of nearly 70 years, Alfred of Sioux Center, IA, their children; Leonard of Alton, IA, Roger (Deb) Hoogland of Fort Lupton, CO, Stan (Nancy) Hoogland of Granville, IA Edwin (Marla) Hoogland of Orange City, IA,
Grandchildren;
Leonard's Children: Tanya (Matt) Eaton of N. Carolina,
             Kayla (Matt) Blessinger and their children Mitchell and Lila of CO,
Roger's Children: Jason (Shelly) Luckel and their children Alexis, Joshua and JJ of PA,
             Jeremiah Blaglowsky of CO, 
            Bradley (Stephanie) Hoogland and their daughter Paisley of CO,
Stan's Children: Darren (Deb) Hoogland of IA,
            Cory (Ashley) Hoogland of IA,
            KayLynn (Elmer) Rolfes and their son Carson of IA,
Ed's Children: Trenton Hoogland of IA,
            Matt Vande Kieft of IA,
            Morgan Hoogland of Iowa.
She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by: her parents; one brother, William Hulstein; one sister, Sylvia (Marian) Kredit, two grandchildren; Shelly and Nathan Hoogland.

Casket bearers will be Jason Luckel, Jeremiah Blagowski, Bradley Hoogland, Darren Hoogland, Cory Hoogland and Trenton Hoogland.

In lieu of flowers the Hoogland family requests to direct memorial donations to Hospers First Christian Reformed Church or Royale Meadows Care Center.
