Jack was born June 15, 1936, in Sioux Center, IA, the son of Albert & Pearl (Rozeboom) Timmer. He was born and raised in Sioux Center, in the very home that he continued to live for all of his 79 years. On June 22, 1956 he married Marlene Van Wyhe in Hull, IA. The couple were planning their 60th wedding anniversary in June.
Jack was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church. Marlene and Jack were youth leaders for many years. Jack provided leadership as a deacon and elder as well. Jack was also employed at Joe’s Ready Mix in Sioux Center for several years.
Jack and Marlene supported the activities and sports of Sioux Center Community Schools, where their 5 children and 16 grandchildren all attended. They were fans of Northwestern College which many of their children and grandchildren attended as well.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman, guiding and teaching his children and grandchildren in many hunting and fishing activities at rivers and ponds in the area, taking hundreds of photos along the way. Jack’s passion after retiring was contributing to the beauty of their farmstead.
