Ervin Van Zee, 86, of Sioux Center, IA, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Sioux Center Health.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Saturday at 9:30AM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00AM at the Free Grace Reformed Church of Middleburg with Rev. Stephen Breen officiating.
Ervin Dale Van Zee was born on July 11, 1929 near Hartley, Iowa to Dick and Sarah (Te Paske) Van Zee. Erv was raised in the Middleburg, Iowa area where he attended country school.
On February 25, 1955 he was united in marriage to Dora Mulder. Following their marriage Erv and Dora settled in the Newkirk, Iowa area where Erv milked a small dairy of cows, raised pigs and had a corn shelling business. He was an active member of the Free Grace Reformed Church of Middleburg. Erv enjoyed spending time visiting with friends over a cup of coffee or liked having company over for ice cream.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Dora Van Zee of Sioux Center; daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Mike Malone of Round Rock, TX; sisters-in-law: Lucille Van Zee of Sioux Center and Doris Van Zee of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Gerdena Deinken of Sioux Center; brother-in-law, Jim “Guy” Mulder of Sioux Center along with several nieces and nephews.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and John Skoff, Arta and Carl Behrens; brothers and sisters-in-law: Edward and Wilma Van Zee, Henry and Josephine Van Zee; brothers: Sylvester Van Zee and Richard Van Zee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jake and Antonia Mulder; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Leona Mulder and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Hermina and Howard Den Hartog.
