Harriet De Bondt

Harriet De Bondt, 77, of Sioux Center, IA, died Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-8PM, with the family present from 4-6PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Monday at 9:00AM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 10:30AM at the Peace Lutheran of rural Sioux Center with Rev. Glen Peterson officiating. The De Bondt family prefers memorials to Royale Meadows Care Center, c/o Sioux Center Health Foundation. Harriet (Harskamp) DeBondt was born on December 28, 1937, the daughter of Gerrit and Hermina Harskamp. She was born on a farm near Maurice, Iowa and raised in the Ireton, Iowa area where she attended country school and helped on the farm. In June of 1955 she was joined in marriage to Evert De Bondt. They made their home in Sioux Center, Iowa. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of rural Sioux Center and was secretary/treasurer for Sunday school for many years. Harriet was proud of her 32 years driving school bus for the Sioux Center Community School District and the 25 years of catering she provided for people she knew. She enjoyed quilting, golfing, playing cards and watching her grandchildren's sporting events. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Evert De Bondt of Sioux Center; her three children and spouses: Sandy and Randy Rogers of Boise, ID, Mike and Linda DeBondt of Sioux Center, Paula and Marlin Van Voorst of Hull; her eight grandchildren: Kelli Rogers, Levi Rogers, Justin De Bondt, Jon DeBondt, Keaton (Jamie) Van Voorst, Kinzie (Tyson) Brown, Kassidy Van Voorst and Kade VanVoorst and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and and sisters-in-law: Gerald and Alice Harskamp of Sioux Center, Bob and Cheryl Harskamp of Oakdale, CA, Ken and Darts Harskamp of Ida Grove, IA and Dave and lla Harskamp of Sioux Center along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Harriet is preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Rogers; brother and sister-in-law, John and Alice Harskamp and sisters-in-law: "Toots" Harskamp, Gayle Harskamp, Phyllis Harskamp.
