Cornie Van Beek, 73, of Sioux Center, IA, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00AM at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. A.T. Vergunst officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Cornelius Van Beek was born on December 5, 1941, at Sioux Center, Iowa, to Peter and Juliana (Schelling) Van Beek. He was raised on a farm near Fairview, South Dakota. He attended the country school near Fairview and later moved with his family to Sioux Center, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Harriet Bloemendaal on March 17, 1967. They made their home in Sioux Center, where Cornelius was first employed for 12 years at OTIS Radio in Hawarden, Iowa. His love of buying and selling cars, and trading anything, led him to own and operate the Bargain Center in Sioux Center, for the remaining years of his life. Cornelius was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Sioux Center. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Harriet Van Beek of Sioux Center; two sons: Curt and Laurie Van Beek of Sioux Center and Allen Van Beek of Rock Rapids; his grandson, Gage Van Beek; four brothers and sisters-in-law: Albert and Gloria Van Beek of Inwood, Ronald and Crystel Van Beek of Grand Rapids, Ml, Peter and Linda Van Beek of Sioux Fall, SD, James and Donna Van Beek of Ireton; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Harriet and Dick Bonnema of Ireton, Priscilla and Harlan Driesen of Doon, Mary Ann and Roger De Groot of Hull, Eileen Ruth and Allen De Jager of Ireton; sister-in-law, Clarice Van Beek of Inwood and numerous nieces and nephews. Cornie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Van Beek.
