Ida Storer, 98, of Sioux Center, IA, died Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Royale Meadows Care Center, Sioux Center. A visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday from 10-11AM at the Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11AM at the Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Dave Mulder officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Ida Rensina (Mulder) Storer of Sioux Center, IA passed away on March 7, 2015, at the age of 98. She was born August 23, 1916 in Alton, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Prins) Mulder. Her family moved to Sioux Center, Iowa in 1918. After graduating from Sioux Center High School in 1935, Ida attended beauty school in Omaha, Nebraska. She returned to Sioux Center after receiving her training and opened her own beauty salon, Vanity Beauty Salon, which she operated from 1937 to 1984. Ida was active in the Iowa State Cosmetology Association, in which she served as president among other leadership positions. She also belonged to the National Hairdressers Association. Over the years Ida had been quite involved with the Sioux Center Community Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Central Reformed Church of Sioux center where she was active in women's ministries. On April 8, 1978 she was united in marriage to Edmund Storer. Ed preceded her in death on November 27, 1983. Throughout her life, Ida enjoyed traveling, music, watching sports and participating in volunteer work. Ida is survived by her brother, Elmer (Betty) Mulder; sisters-in-law: LaVonne Mulder and Hilde Mulder; step brother, Marvin (Bertha) Sjaarda; step sisters-in-law: Mina Sjaarda and Peggy Sjaarda; step son, Charles (Patsy) Storer; step daughter, Mary Olson, 6 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ida was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Dirkie Sjaarda-Mulder; three brothers: James (Grace) Mulder, Harold Mulder and Bernard Mulder; her sisters: Harriet Mulder, Grace (Elmer) Schouten; step brothers: Clarence Sjaarda, John (Joyce and Gertrude) Sjaarda, Donald (Beverly) Sjaarda and step sister, Winifred (Gerald) Reinders. Ida was petite in stature, but her generous personality and love are large in the hearts of those who knew her.
