Don Punt, 84, of Sioux Center, IA, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Royale Meadows Care Center, Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-8PM, with the family present from 3-5PM at New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Monday at 10:00AM at the New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00AM at the New Life Reformed Church with Rev. Dan Kruse officiating. In lieu of flowers or gift items the Punt family prefers memorials to Sioux Center Home Health and Hospice. Donald H. Punt was born on July 3, 1930, to Henry and Wilhelmina (Vande Berg) Punt. He received education through the 8th grade at Center No. 6 country school. Donald married Alvina Vande Kamp on November 23, 1951. Together they farmed the Punt Homestead from 1951-1984. Their specialty was the dairy business. Donald and Alvina put up one of the first modern milk parlors in the area. Donald did various other jobs from 1984-2014 including dicing potatoes for Alvina's famous potato salad, each job always received his best efforts. In 2014, Donald and Alvina made their residence at Crown Pointe. They were members of New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center, IA. Don's priorities in life were his faith and his family. Left to cherish Don's memory are: his wife, Alvina of Sioux Center; their six children and their spouses: Glenda and Peter Nieuwkoop of Sioux City, Dave and Elinor Punt of Sioux Center, Darryl and Linda Punt of Noblesville, IN, Loren and Barb Punt of Sioux Center, Alicia and Tom Beaver of Sioux Center and Leon and Teresa Punt of Tucson, AZ; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; his siblings: Lloyd and Gracia Punt of Pipestone, MN, Leroy and Joan Punt of Maurice, IA, Dorothy and Curtis Van Briesen of Sioux Center; sister-in-law, Arlene Bidwell of Sioux Center; brother-in-law, Lawrence and Shirley Groen of Sioux Center and numerous nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Wilhelmina Punt; his siblings, Ralph Punt, Henry Punt, and Audrey Groen; and a granddaughter, Karli Punt.
