Priscilla Dibbet, 82, of Sioux Center, IA, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Sioux Center Health. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Monday at 1:00PM at the Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 2:00PM at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. G.J. Baan officiating. In lieu of flowers or gift items, the Dibbet family prefers memorials to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School. Priscilla Van Voorst was born on May 28, 1932 to Henry and Alice (Vande Hoef) Van Voorst. She grew up on a farm near Sioux Center and attended country school through the eighth grade. She married Jacob Dibbet, Jr. on September 14, 1955, and together they farmed west of Sioux Center, rearing their three children, Rodney, Darla and Julie. In 1994, they retired from farming and moved into town. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and home-maker who was known for her needle working talents and for the compassion and selfless assistance she gave to those in need. She often visited shut-ins. She also enjoyed being with family and babysitting her ten grandchildren: Scott Dibbet, Rachel (Dibbet) Bakker, Jerry and James Dibbet; Taylor and Monica Lais; Nathan, Joshua, Jonathan and Maria Van Zweden. Priscilla was a life-long member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Sioux Center. She spent many hours serving, organizing, and leading the Dorcas Mission Society and the Netherlands Reformed Christian School Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Jacob Dibbet, Jr. of Sioux Center, their two daughters: Darla (Dan) Lais of Brandon, SD, Julie (Ralph) Van Zweden of Sioux Center and daughter-in-law, Gloria (Gary) Teunissen of Rock Valley; with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also living are her sisters: Hattie (John) Rus of Corsica, SD, Marie Bakker of Rock Valley; her brother, Jake (Freda) Van Voorst of Inwood, IA; sisters-in-law: Dorothy and Johanna Van Voorst both of Sioux Center and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Alice Van Voorst; her son, Rodney Dibbet; three brothers: Gerrit, Richard and John (Tillie) Van Voorst, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Minnie (William) Van Bochove and Gertrude (Hank) Van Beek and brother-in-law, John Bakker.
