Louis Wynia, 94, of Sioux Center, IA, died Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. John Lee, officiating. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11:00AM at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Timothy Breen officiating. The Wynia family prefers memorials to Sioux Center Christian School Building Project, c/o Sioux Center Christian School Foundation. Louis S. Wynia was born November 17, 1920 to Sam and Minnie (Draayer) Wynia. He grew up on a farm west of Sioux Center and attended country school through eighth grade. Louis served in the United States Army from 1945 - 1947, helping with reconstruction in Europe, following World War II. After his honorable discharge, Louis was joined in marriage to Hermina Franken on November 14, 1947. The couple was blessed with four sons. They farmed near Sioux Center until 2002 when they moved to the New Homestead in Sioux Center. Hermina passed away October 26, 2007. Louis moved to Crown Pointe Assisted Living in 2009 and to Royale Meadows Care Center in September 2014. Louis loved the Lord and his calm demeanor gave testimony of his unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Farming was his profession as well as his passion. He also enjoyed Minneapolis Moline tractors, reading, and riding through the countryside. Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Hermina; a granddaughter, Kyla Joy Wynia; a grandson-in-law, Jason Jackes; one sister and brother-in-law, Edward and Wilmina Wielenga; and one brother, John Wynia; brother-in-law, Gerard Van Ravenswaay; all of Hermina's siblings: Alfred and Henrietta Franken, Dick and Bertha Franken, Jim and Nell Franken, and Gerrit and Elizabeth Van Maanen.
