Pamela Westover, 56, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Sioux Center Health. A visitation with family present will be held on Wednesday from 9AM to 10AM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Wednesday Dec. 3, 2014 at 10AM at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Dan De Vries officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Eden Cemetery of Hudson, South Dakota. Pamela Kay Westover was born on June 6, 1958 at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Evelyn Marie Westover, who was living at a home for unwed mothers at the time of Pamela's birth. In 1960, Evelyn married Donald Benjamin Hendrix. The couple, along with Pamela, lived for a short time in Canton, South Dakota before moving to Hawarden, Iowa. Pamela began her education in the Hawarden School district and received extra assistance in the Special Education room. She would complete her education in Sioux Center, Iowa. Pamela moved to Hull, Iowa and lived in a Hope Haven group home before moving into the Ridge Brooke apartments in Sioux Center. Over the years, Pamela was able to work with Hope Haven at various businesses. She enjoyed spending time with others as they packed candy, cleaned at Dordt College and counted cans at Brommer Sanitation. Her most recent position was working for Service Master at a bank, where she loved vacuuming and keeping things neat. Spending time with her family was one of her favorite things. She enjoyed many Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthdays with family, and loved to watch fireworks of the Fourth of July. Pamela went on two trips in the last few years. One trip was to Orlando, Florida where she 0went to Walt Disney World. The second trip was to Memphis, Tennessee, where she was able to visit Elvis Pressley's Home, Graceland. Pamela loved to watch Elvis' movies and listen to his music. Pamela loved the staff of Hope Haven and enjoyed the many friends she made over the years. Pamela is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jim White of Rock Valley; five nieces and nephews: James (Christy) White of Rock Rapids, Robert (Stacia) White of Sheldon, Jeanna Bennett of Sioux Center, Rebecca Horton of Rock Valley, Barbara (Mathias) Thompson of Alcester, SD; aunt, Marcella Brandhagen of Hawarden; uncles, Merle (Judy) Westover and Davis Westover of Hawarden; great aunt, Mary Nelson of Canton, SD; cousins: Brenda Watkins of Hawarden, Rick Boyer of Hawarden, Alan Boyer of Cherokee, Phillip Boyer of Sioux Falls. She is preceded in death by her parents.
