Margaret Roghair

Margaret Roghair, 88, of Sheldon, IA died Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center in Sheldon. A visitation will be held on Monday from 5-8PM, with family present from 5-7PM at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sheldon. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday at 9:30AM at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, Iowa. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00AM at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sheldon with Rev. Luke Wynja officiating. Margaret (Bloemendaal) Roghair was born April 1, 1926 to Cornelius and Hattie (Bakker) Bloemendaal in Doon, Iowa. She was raised in the Doon area and attended Doon Christian School through the eighth grade. As a young lady, Margaret played softball and was a member of the Doon Darlings team. She had a fondness for horses and spent many afternoons riding her horse "Jerry". On October 11, 1950, Margaret was joined in marriage to William Roghair at the Christian Reformed Church in Doon. The couple first made their home in the Sioux Center, Iowa area. Later they moved their family to Sheldon, Iowa where Margaret worked as a housekeeper at the Sheldon Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sheldon. Margaret was a talented musician. She played the guitar, accordion and harmonica by ear. She also sang in a trio with her brother, Pete and sister, Fannie. She is survived by her six children: Wanda Grom and her friend, Steve of Sheldon, Sandi and Doug Mallette of South Sioux City, NE, Craig Roghair of Mankato, MN, David and Donna Roghair of Sioux Center, Heidi Roghair of Sheldon, Shelli and Scott Kissinger of Ontario, CA; her 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; sister: Fannie Riemersma of Gig Harbor, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Elmer Van Den Top of Rock Valley; brother and sister-in-law, Nick and Tressa Bloemendaal of Doon, IA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Roghair; her parents, Cornelius and Hattie (Bakker) Bloemendaal; son-in-law, Gary (Mike) Grom; granddaughter, Sonia Grom; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Peter and Jennie Bloemendaal, William and Hilda Bloemendaal, Eilert and Pearl Bloemendaal; sister and brother-in-law, Jennie and Cornie Klarenbeek and brother-in-law, John Riemersma.
