Cornelia Jassey

Cornelia Jassey, 76, of Sioux Center, IA, formerly of Sibley, IA died Monday, October 20, 2014, at Crown Pointe Assisted Living in Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A graveside committal service will be held on Thursday at 11:30AM at the Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2PM at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Everett Adams officiating. The Jassey family prefers memorials to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School or Sioux Center Home Health and Hospice. Cornelia (Kleyweg) Jassey, 76, of Sioux Center, IA died at 2:30 PM on 20 Oct 2014 at her home after a brief battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Elizabeth Kleyweg, her spouse of 50 years, Robert Leroy Jassey Sr; a son, Richard Neal Jassey; a daughter,Lisa Lea (Jassey) Stultz; and two brothers: Henry Kleyweg and Cornelius "Neal" Kleyweg. Cornelia was born on January 31, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa where she grew up and graduated from Central High School. She was united in marriage to Bob Jassey on April 13, 1957 in Sioux City. After a brief period in Mapleton, Iowa, they moved to Sibley, Iowa where they made their home for 45 years and raised four children. She worked for Merrick Printing and in home health for Osceola County. Following the death of her husband, she moved to Sioux Center, Iowa where she has resided for the last 6 years. Cornelia is a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. Cornelia had a giving heart and was a wonderful example of selflessness to those whose lives she touched. She remained strong in her faith and dedicated to the Lord until the end of her days. She is survived by her son, Rob (Tami) Jassey of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Deborah (Noel) Roberts of Elk Grove, CA; a sister, Barbara Kleyweg of Evanston, IL; two brothers, Nick (Della) Kleyweg of Sioux City and Marty (Peggy) Kleyweg of Downers Grove, IL; sister-in-law, Mary Kleyweg of Plainfield, IL; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
