Bertha Boersma, 77 of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Sioux Center, IA, died Saturday, October 18, 2014, at Embassy Rehab & Care Center in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. A visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday from 12PM-12:30PM, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 12:30PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center with Rev. Kory Plockmeyer officiating. Interment will follow the service in Richland Cemetery of Inwood, Iowa. Bertha Marie Boersma was born January 26, 1937 to John and Tracy (Vermeulen) Boersma in Rock Rapids, Iowa. As a child, Bertha lived with her family in Northwest Iowa. Bertha was a baptized member of the Covenant Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center where she has remained a member. For most of her life, Bertha lived in residential facilities in Iowa. These facilities provided her with a loving environment and great care. For nearly 20 years, she lived in Park View Homes in Sioux City, Iowa, and for the last 5 years she has resided at Embassy Care Center in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Bertha is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion and Angie Boersma of Gresham, OR, Ed and Judi Boersma of Minneapolis, MN; a sister, Connie De Vries of Spearfish, SD as well as her 13 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Tracy Boersma.
