Tena Wynia, 95, of Sioux Center, IA died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. A visitation with the family present will be held on Saturday from 9:30-11:00AM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00AM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Travis Else officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. In lieu of flowers or gift items, the Wynia family prefers memorials to Village Northwest or Hope Haven. Tena Wynia was born August 27, 1918 to Frank and Johanna (Rodenburgh) Wynia on the family farm near Maurice, Iowa. She attended Center Township #5 rural school through the eighth grade. As a young girl she did spring and fall house cleaning for families. She later was employed at the local Co-op Produce as an egg candler for five years. After taking a bookkeeping and typing course at the National Business Training School in Sioux City, she took a position as a bookkeeper for the Gus Pech Manufacturing Co., Inc. in Le Mars until her retirement. Tena taught Sunday school for several years while her family attended First Reformed Church in Ireton, Iowa. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center where she was a faithful member of Rebekah Circle for many years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the states and overseas. Tena's hands produced lovely needlepoint items and knitted caps for the Goodwill Mission. She spent many years volunteering with the Care Quilters until her health began to fail. Tena is survived by her sister, Frances Wynia of Sioux Center; two sisters-in-law: Jean Wynia of Sheldon and Arlene Wynia of Luverne, MN along with her 21 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Louis and Anna Wynia, Cornie and Jeanette Wynia, Martin and Wilmina Wynia; brother, Melvin Wynia and nephew, Corwin Wynia.
