Eric De Nooy, 30, of Rock Valley, IA died Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his West View Home residence in Rock Valley. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11:00AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Bradd Nymeyer officiating. The De Nooy family prefer memorials be directed to Hope Haven or the United Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Eric De Nooy was born April 7, 1983 in Grinnell, Iowa to Carroll and Deb (Draayer) De Nooy. The family moved to Sioux Center in 1987. Eric attended River Valley School in Rock Valley, Iowa. At the age of 18, he moved to Village Northwest, in Sheldon, Iowa. In 2005, Eric moved to Hope Haven in Rock Valley where he lived in a waiver home and later at the Westview Homes. Eric worked at Parkview Industries in Rock Valley. He loved working on belts and having fun with the staff. He also enjoyed going away on Friday nights with his fellow roommates and staff to eat out and to see the signs. Eric went on an amazing summer vacation at Becker's Resort in Lake Benton, Minnesota. While on vacation he camped, rode in a boat and of course threw rocks into the water. He loved being outside in God's creation! Eric enjoyed walking trails, throwing sticks and stones and watching the leaves blow. Weekends were filled with Saturday afternoon visits to Grandma's house and finding words in the Shopper or fixing puzzles. When home on Saturdays, he enjoyed trips to Hy Vee and Bomgaars just to get their flyers. He loved papers. Saturday evenings were filled with pizza parties and movies. Sundays, he would walk trails with family and then return to his home for the day. He loved listening to the old fashioned hymns on KSOU and going to church in the evening. He liked paging thru the Bible as he listened. He was a baptized member of the United Reform Church. Survivors are his parents, Carroll and Deb De Nooy of Sioux Center; a brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Tara De Nooy and their daughter, Savanna of Sioux Center, a sister and brother-in-law, Rindy and Doug Veldhuisen of Tabor, AB, Canada and his grandma, Lill Draayer of Rock Valley. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andrew and LaVerda De Nooy and Ed Draayer.
