Irene Roghair, 86, of Sioux Center, IA died Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-8PM, with the family present from 2-4PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Monday at 10:00AM at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00AM at First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Mark Verbruggen officiating. The Roghair family prefer memorials be directed to Sioux Center Home Health and Hospice or Sioux Center Christian School Building Fund. Irene C. Roghair was born April 3, 1927 to Bastian and Marie (Faber) Mulder in Lebanon, Iowa. She was raised on farms in Sioux and Plymouth Counties. Irene attended country school through the eighth grade at the Carnes country school. On September 5, 1950, Irene was joined in marriage to Edward J. Roghair, Jr. in Orange City, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sioux Center, Iowa. Ed preceded Irene in death on September 15, 1998. Irene worked at Dordt College in Sioux Center for two years. She then faithfully worked at the Sioux Center Christian School from 1971-1989. Irene was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center where she enjoyed serving as a Pastoral Worker. Irene was a humble servant, living a quiet life of service for her Creator, her family and her community. She was an avid walker. Irene marveled at nature's beauty, especially flowers and birds, always keeping a keen eye out for that first spring robin. Irene knelt in prayer every night, a faithful sojourner on her way to her heavenly home and reward. Irene's work on earth is done. "Well done thou good and faithful servant." She is survived by her six children: Ronald Roghair of Sioux Center, Beverly and Richard Beckstrom of Sioux Falls, SD, Carol Roghair and friend, Bill Lee of West Branch, IA, Bruce Roghair, Douglas and Carla Roghair all of Sioux Center and Maridee and Eric Olson of Eau Claire, WI; her 7 grandchildren: Benjamin Beckstrom, Chad (Erin) Beckstrom, Joseph Beckstrom, Culley (Tara) Kline, Jordan Kline, Julia Olson, Jenna Roghair; 1 great-grandson, Jonah Beckstrom; two sisters: Sadie Lassen of Le Mars and Clara Jasper of Ontario, CA; three brothers: Carl (Milly) Mulder of Orange City, John (Wilma) Mulder of Leawood, KS, Melvin (Marge) Mulder of Banning, CA; four sisters-in-law: Martha Mulder of Artesia, CA, Marietta Mulder of Orange City, Margaret Roghair of Sheldon, Esther Warntjes of Hospers; brother-in-law, Elmer Bonnema of Sioux Center and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Marinus Mulder, Dick Mulder, Henry Mulder, Carl William Mulder (infant); twin sister, Mathilda Bonnema; brothers-in-law: Ervin Lassen, George Jasper, William Roghair, Jim Warntjes; sister-in-law, Tracy Mulder.
