Helen Westenberg, 95, of Sioux Center, IA died Monday, January 6, 2014, at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. A visitation with the family present will be held on Saturday from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:00AM at New Life Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Carl Boersma officiating. A gravside committal will be held Saturday at 2:30PM in the Hillside Cemetery of Edgerton, MN. The Westenberg family prefer memorials be directed to New Life Reformed Church. Helen Westenberg was born on April 4, 1918 in Trosky, Minnesota to Ed and Allie (Hendricks) Kleinjan. She was joined in marriage to Stanley Westenberg in Edgerton, Minnesota on June 30, 1938. Throughout her life, Helen lived in a variety of communities where she made many deep friendships. Helen was a faithful, active church member at First Reformed in Edgerton, Minnesota; American Reformed in Woodstock, Minnesota; Peace Reformed Church in Eagan, Minnesota; and New Life in Sioux Center, Iowa. Helen was a loving, praying, and sympathetic wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and always ready with a comforting word and a helpful hand. She was cherished by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Helen is survived by her three children: Sharon and her husband Walter VanderWilt of Sioux Center, IA; Harlan and Eileen Westenberg of Grass Valley, CA and John and Leah Westenberg of Missoula, MT; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Ramona Kleinjan of Edgerton, MN; Carole Kleinjan of Lake Havasu, AZ and Bernice Hendricks of Edgerton, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her daughter, Bonnie Westenberg Pedersen; her parents; four brothers: Harold and Beth Kleinjan, Ervin and Nancy Kleinjan, Elmer Kleinjan and Floyd Kleinjan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Dick and Martha Westenberg, Dewey and Alvina Den Ouden, Pete and Nellie Talsma and brother-in-law, Adrian Hendricks.
