Alice Langstraat, 93, of Sioux Center, IA, formerly of Hull, IA, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, IA. A visitation with the family present will be held at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center on Thursday from 11am until noon followed by a luncheon. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1PM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow the service in Hope Cemetery of Hull, IA. The Langstraat family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Alice Langstraat was born to Arthur and Susie (Altena) Klein on December 23, 1919 in Ireton, Iowa. Alice was joined in marriage to Fred Langstraat on March 13, 1941 at her parent's home near Orange City, Iowa. Alice worked side by side with Fred on their farm for a number of years. After retiring they settled in Hull, Iowa. For several years to come she enjoyed assisting elderly people. She was a member of Hull First Reformed Church. After Fred preceded Alice in death on January 8, 1986, Alice moved to Sioux Center, Iowa where she became a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wilmer and Marcella Langstraat of George, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Darwin Wahl of Pleasantville, Iowa; four grandchildren: Terri (Brian) Boman of Rock Rapids, Kristie (Scott) Simonsen of Sheldon, Todd (Lori) Haack of Ankeny, Troy Haack of Des Moines; 10 great grandchildren: Tyler Haack, Lucus Haack, Kendra Haack, Ryan Haack, Nicole Haack, Payton Haack, Nathan Haack, Mikayla Simonsen, Haley Borman, Keely Simonsen; brother, Jim Klein of Sherman, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Adrian and Alberta Klein of Pipestone, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her parents; an infant grandson; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Sam and Dorothy Klein and Clarence and Bertha Klein; sister-in-law, Geraldine Klein.
