Tunis Kaemingk, 85, of Sioux Center, IA died Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA. A visitation with the family present will be held Saturday from 12:00PM -2:00PM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00PM at First Reformed Church with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Tunis Wilbur Kaemingk was born on November 11, 1927 at Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of Theodore J. and Alice (Schutt) Kaemingk. Tunis was raised on the family farm southeast of Sioux Center. He attended West Branch #4 rural school through the eighth grade. As a young man he worked for his parents on the family farm. Tunis was a dependable, hard worker. For most of his adult life he was sought after by relatives and neighbors for help on their farms. He also did custom feeding of hogs for many years. After both of his parents passed away, Tunis and his brother Harold lived together for the next 22 years. Tunis was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He was a fixture in the back pew, where he enjoyed visiting with friends as they arrived each Sunday. Tunis is survived by his brother, Harold Kaemingk of Sioux Center; two sisters-in-law: Helen Kaemingk and Ravina De Zeeuw both of Sioux Center; a brother-in-law, Bill Kooi of Orange City and nineteen nieces and nephews. Tunis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold Kaemingk, Theodore Kaemingk; sister, Margaret "Mike" Kooi; sister and brother-in-law, Wilemina and Arvin Schuiteman.
