Elaine Jahde, 68, of Maurice, IA died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Orange City Health System. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held at Wednesday at 10:30AM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center with Rev. David Daumer officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service in Resthaven Memorial Park of rural Le Mars, IA. Elaine Iona Jahde was born October 12, 1944 near Sioux Center, Iowa to Art and Anna (Fylstra) Kruizenga. She was raised on the family farm near Maurice, Iowa where she lived until becoming a resident of Long Term Care in Orange City, on December 23rd, 2012. Elaine graduated with the Maurice-Orange City class of 1963. She was united in marriage to Richard L. Jahde on December 4th, 1963 at the family farm. As a young woman, Elaine worked as a cook at the Plymouth County Home and Archie's Waeside Restaurant in Le Mars. Later she performed custodial duties at Kinsey Elementary School in Sioux Center and Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. She became a stay at home mother once their daughter was born. Elaine loved history, and was especially interested in the events surrounding the lives of John F. Kennedy, Elvis and Princess Diana. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was always willing to bake an angel food cake for family birthdays, or bake from scratch pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving dinner. Elaine was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church rural Ireton. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Dennis Schmidt of Boyden; her two grandchildren: Justin and Adrianna Schmidt of Boyden; sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Mike Dellwo of Sergeant Bluff; sister-in-law, Ravina Kruizenga of Holland, MI; a niece, Candace Brickey of N. Little Rock, AR and nephew, Chad Kruizenga of Zeeland, MI. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard on April 18, 1994; her brother, Harvard Kruizenga and a nephew, Vic Dykhuizen.
