Dwaine Eugene Muilenburg was born on June 2, 1934 to Howard and Jennie (Dykstra) Muilenburg. He was raised on a rural farm near Sioux Center, Iowa and attended country school thru 8th grade and graduated from Sioux Center Community High School. He was married to Alyda Hofland on August 27, 1959 at the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church. The couple lived and worked on the farm where Dwaine grew up; they also raised their four children there. Dwaine was a member of First Reformed Church in Orange City, but attended New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He was committed to his faith in Jesus Christ. It was important to him to have daily devotions with his family at meal times. As his family was growing up, he would read from the Bible at noon time and then read from a Children's Bible Story book in the evening. In his spare time, Dwaine enjoyed watching sports and playing cards. He liked watching his grandchildren's sporting events or music programs. Even though during the last few years he wasn't always able to attend their events he would always ask them about it. Throughout his life, he emphasized the importance of integrity and character, the value of honest hard work, and time with his family. Dwaine is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alyda Muilenburg of Sioux Center; his four children: Kevin Muilenburg of Waukee, IA; Dennis (Becky) Muilenburg of Collinsville, IL; Janna (Dale) Nomansen and Harlan (Maria) Muilenburg all of Sioux Center; his eight grandchildren: Ana Muilenburg, Luke and Amy Muilenburg, Kerra and Jordan Nomansen, Ashton, Shayanne and Logan Muilenburg. He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law: Joan (Darwin) Zeutenhorst and Linda (Doug) Van Berkum all of Orange City along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Jennie Muilenburg and a sister-in-law, Verna Zevenbergen.
