Frank Bruinsma

Frank Bruinsma, 64, of Fullerton, CA, formerly of Sioux Center, IA, died May 24, 2013 in Fullerton, CA. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11AM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, IA with Rev. R. Van Rathbun officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Francis "Frank" Bruinsma was born September 8, 1948 in Hull, Iowa to Sam and Gladys (Boeyink) Bruinsma. He graduated from Sioux Center High School in 1967. While in school he played all sports, and was a member of the Sioux Center Boys Basketball team which won the state championship in 1967. Frank graduated from Sioux Center High School with the Class of 1967. He attended college for a year in Fort Dodge, Iowa on a basketball scholarship. In 1970 he settled in California, where he mostly worked in construction. Frank is survived by his five brothers: Wayne Bruinsma and his wife, Marty, Sam Bruinsma, Robert Bruinsma and his wife, Lorna, Joel Bruinsma and his wife, Donna all of Sioux Center, Randy Bruinsma and his wife, Rita of Battle Lake, MN; three sisters: Alda and her husband, Bill Severson of Sioux Falls, SD, Nancy De Bondt of Sioux Center, Judi Wilson and her husband, Gary of Sioux Falls; as well as several nieces; nephews; uncles; aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Byron, Dave, Stan and Paul.
