Nellie De Kruyf, 99, of Sioux Center, IA died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Tuesday at 9:30AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley, IA. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. The De Kruyf family prefer memorials be directed to Atlas of Sioux Center. Nellie (Vande Vegte) De Kruyf was born in Rock Valley, Iowa on December 16, 1913 to Nick and Mary (Ver Burg) Vande Vegte. She was united in marriage to Henry Frederick De Kruyf on March 25, 1937 in Rock Valley. Nellie and Henry lived in Artesia, California for 40 years. Nellie worked at the Christian Retirement Home for 14 years. They settled in Sioux Center, Iowa in 1978 after retiring. Nellie was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center, where she participated with Sunshine Circle. Nellie is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Rod and Carol De Kruyf of Sioux Center and Verlyn "Sam" and Dottie De Kruyf of Corona, CA; five grandchildren: Randy (Jan) De Kruyf of Sioux Center, Cathi (Bob) Van Zanten of Rock Valley, Elva (Michael) Douma of Lynden, WA, Vonnie (Dennis) Vander Ham of Tipton, CA, Dana (Peter) Bouma of Bakersfield, CA; thirteen great grandchildren: Jessica (Mike) Nagel, Ryan (Heidi) De Kruyf, Breanna (Cody) Nelson, Dalton Van Zanten, Natalie (Jed) Miller, Natasha Douma, Mikaela Douma, Luke (Jodie) Vander Ham, Jace (Josina) Vander Ham, Savannah Vander Ham, Grant Bouma, Isabella Bouma and Gwyneth Bouma; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Bev De Kruyf of Boise, ID along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; infant grandson, Tommie De Kruyf; her parents; three brothers and four sisters.
