Alice Moerman

Alice Moerman, 89, of Sioux Center, IA died Monday March 4, 2013, at Sioux Center Community Hospital in Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8PM with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Thursday at 1PM at the First Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2PM at the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Mark Verbruggen officiating. The Moerman family prefers memorials to Hope Haven of Rock Valley, Iowa. Alice Moerman was born to Lambert and Anne (Van Muyden) Van Wyhe on April 28, 1923 on a farm near Akron, Iowa. The Van Wyhe family moved to McNally, Iowa where Alice attended country school through the eighth grade. On January 31, 1946, Alice married William Moerman in Sioux Center, Iowa. Bill was a contract painter and sold paint and wall coverings. Bill passed away August 22, 1981. Alice continued to stay busy operating the retail paint business until her retirement at the age of seventy. Since June 2008, Alice has lived at Kosgrove Assisted Living. She enjoyed the many visits from family and friends. She is survived by a sister, Esther Vander Hoef of Hills, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Hendrene Van Wyhe of Hills, MN, Duane and Helen Van Wyhe of Sioux Center, Marlin and Darlene Van Wyhe of Hawarden and sister-in-law, Kathy Van Wyhe of Ireton. Also left to cherish her memory from the Moerman families are: sisters-in-law, Nellie Rodibaugh of Grand Rapids, MI, Dena Cuperus of Jenison, MI; brother-in-law: Peter Moerman of Rock Valley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Darlene Moerman of Plano, TX as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law: Margaret and Dick Vande Griend, Gertrude and Ordean Webert, Dorothy and Peter Vande Griend; brother, Gordon Van Wyhe; sister-in-law, Jen Van Wyhe; brothers-in-law: Dick Vande Hoef, Raymond Obermaller. Members of the Moerman family include brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cornelius and Marie Moerman, John and Shirley Moerman, Adrian and Eleanor Moerman; sisters-in-law: Magdalena (Fedders) and husband, William Rensink, Henrietta (Olsen) and husband, Lane Attema, Catherine Moerman; brothers-in-law: Arie Moerman, Jack Rodibaugh and Elmer Cuperus.
