Merlin Kredit, 72, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Orange City Area Health System in Orange City, IA. A visitation will be held Monday from 4-7PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Tuesday at 9:30AM at Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM at Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Bernie Haan officiating. The Kredit family prefers memorials to Orange City Home Health & Hospice or Faith Christian Reformed Benevolent Fund. Merlin Kredit was born to Marion and Gertrude (Timmer) Kredit on February 26, 1940 at New Holland, South Dakota. Merl was raised at New Holland where he received his education. On June 3, 1961 Merl was united in marriage to Gloria M. Ellens at Bethany Christian Reformed Church of South Holland, Illinois. While living in South Holland, he worked for a Pepsi Cola distributor as a deliver driver. In 1970, Merl, Gloria and their two children settled in Sioux Center, Iowa. Merl operated Kredit Karpet Kare and later Kredco Janitorial Sales. Merl was an active member of Faith Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center. He enjoyed singing over the years with various quartets and choirs. He also loved to attend quartet concerts. He was fond of camping; spending many summer weekends at Gerks Resort at the Lakes or at Round Lake, Minnesota Merl is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Teresa Kredit of Churchill, MT, and daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Joel Huizenga, of Orange City, IA; along with his seven grandchildren: Janae (Daniel) Van Kley, Matt Kredit and Karsen Kredit all of Churchill, MT, Craig (Tara) Huizenga of Rock Valley, Brooke (Marcus) Mai, Nikki (William) Ayers and Riley Huizenga all of Orange City and nine great grandchildren: Alexa, Kenzie, Treyton, Chase, Cade, Brielle, Brantley, Mya, Mayson. Merl is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Billy Jo Kredit of Dow City, IA and several nieces and nephews. Merl was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Gloria Kredit on January 1, 2005; his parents and a brother, Wendell Kredit.
