Marian Goemaat

December 23, 1927 — January 21, 2013

Marian Goemaat, 85, of Sioux Center, IA died Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm, with the family present from 5-7pm at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Thursday at 9:30am at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11:00am at the Rock Solid Assembly in Le Mars, IA with Rev. Dan Krause officiating. Marian Lucille Goemaat was born December 23, 1927 to Russell and Madge Davis in Moravia, Iowa. She spent her formative years in the Moravia area. In September of 1945, Marian married Henry M. Goemaat. To this union two daughters and one son were born, Shirley, Sharon and Russell. Henry passed away suddenly in 1953. On January 21, 1956, Marian married Clarence C. Goemaat. The couple lived for a number of years near Washington, IA as well as in the states of Minnesota, Idaho and South Dakota before moving to Sioux Center. Marian and Clarence added two sons to their family: Ralph and Lowell. The couple was blessed with exactly 57 years of marriage as Marian passed away on the 21st of January. Marian will be remembered for her positive spirit and her passionate faith. Her desire was to be defined by her relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was currently a member of Rock Solid Assembly in Le Mars, IA. In her free time she loved to spend many hours on her computer and researching genealogy. Also, she was a librarian at church and enjoyed quilting. Marian is survived by her husband, Clarence Goemaat of Sioux Center; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley (Don) Gilmore of Le Mars, Sharon (Duane) Johnson of Omaha, NE; three sons and daughters-in-law, C. Russell (Ruth Ann) Goemaat of Queen Creek, AZ, Ralph (Daletha) Goemaat of Sioux Center, Lowell (Christina) Goemaat of Sioux Center; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jim (Barb) Davis of Marshalltown, IA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Goemaat; her parents; sister, Janet Gelsinger and great-granddaughter, Alexis Powell.
