Violette Breneman, 94, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. A funeral will be held Monday at 2PM at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. R. Van Rathbun officiating. Interment will follow the funeral in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2PM at Central Reformed Church. In lieu of flowers or gift items, the Breneman family prefers memorials to Sioux Center Community Hospital Foundation. Violette Olive Marian Buschenfield was born November 26, 1918 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to John Andrew Buschenfield and Clara Ann (Andersen) Buschenfield. She attended Abraham Lincoln High School and then worked as a sales clerk at Benos Department Store in Council Bluffs. She married Gerald Hartz Breneman of Macedonia, Iowa on December 9, 1945 after he came home from the war. They made their home on the Breneman family farm and worked there in crop farming and raising livestock. They were members of the Macedonia United Methodist Church in Macedonia, Iowa where Violette was a member of Women's Society and taught youth Sunday School. When they moved to Sioux Center, they considered Central Reformed Church their church home. In 2001 they moved to Sioux Center to the Regency Retirement Center. They enjoyed almost 64 years of marriage. After Gerald's passing, Violette lived almost three years at Kosgrove Assisted Living in Sioux Center before moving to Royale Meadows Care Center. She also enjoyed sewing and anything that involved her family. Violette had a great love of her family including two granddaughters and four great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Geralyn and husband, Fred Sick and two granddaughters: Michelle and Philip Utley of Slater, IA and Shari McCarty of Sioux Falls, SD and great grandchildren: Emma and Connor Utley and Hannah and Brody McCarty and also two nieces and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Buschenfield and a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Virgil Hansen and a brother, Donald Buschenfield.
