Arlyn Dirksen, 59, of Sioux Center, IA died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8PM with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held Tuesday at 9:30AM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held at 11AM at the First Christian Reformed Church of Hull, Iowa with Rev. Loren Kotman officiating. Arlyn Eugene Dirksen was born on Jan. 5, 1953 to Arthur and Hermina "Minnie" Dirksen in Hartley, Iowa. He was raised in the Ontario/Chino, California area and graduated from Ontario Christian High School in Ontario, California. Arlyn married Jo (Josephine) Hilvers on May 2, 1980 at Modesto Christian Reformed Church in Modesto, California. Arlyn was a member of the Chino United Reformed Church, in Chino, Zion United Reformed Church in Ripon, California and First Christian Reformed Church of Hull, Iowa. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Jo Dirksen of Sioux Center, IA; daughter, Joisanne Dirksen of Lake Norden, SD; son and daughter-in-law, Art and Anna Dirksen of Hull, IA; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Josh Leusink of Sioux Center, IA along with his three grandchildren: Wyatt Leusink (4), Karlee Leusink (3) and Mikayla Dirksen (2). Arlyn is also survived by his mother, Hermina "Minnie" Dirksen of Turlock, CA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bev and Harv Mouw of Rialto, CA and Shirley and Lowell Van Der Veen of Sheridan, OR; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Julie Dirksen of Chino, CA and sister, Nancy de Jong of Turlock, CA; his mother-in-law, Alice-Ann Hilvers of Ripon, CA; sister-in-law, Pam Sleeman of Ripon, CA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Nanci and John Dragt of Lake Norden, SD, Betty and Robert Verkaik of Reeder, ND, Brenda and Arie de Jong of Visalia, CA and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harm Jr. and Susan Hilvers of Salida, CA. Arlyn was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Dirksen and his father-in-law, Harm Hilvers Sr.
