Margaret Roelofs

Margaret Roelofs, 99, of Sioux Center, IA died Tuesday, October 2, 2012, 2012, at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8PM with the family present from 5-7PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Saturday at 10AM at the Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at the Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Van Rathbun officiating. The Roelofs family prefer memorial be directed to the Central Reformed Church Missions Budget. Margaret Roelofs, the daughter of William and Johanna (Vrymoet) Dykshorn, was born January 5, 1913, on a farm near Ireton, Iowa. She received her education in Sioux County schools and Morningside College. Margaret received her teaching certificate and taught in rural schools in Plato and West Branch Townships. On September 6, 1935, she was married to Davis Roelofs and together owned and operated the Roelofs Store in Sioux Center. She was an active member of the Central Reformed Church and the Sioux Center Federated Women's Club. Margaret enjoyed music, family and children. Survivors include five children: Darlene and Marion Mouw of Sioux Center, Bill and Dixie Roelofs of Sioux Center, Jim and Merry Lynn Roelofs of Baxter, Minnesota, Mary and Steve Chapman of Lakewood, Colorado, and Norma and Ron Vande Bunte of South River, New Jersey; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Stan and Pauline Roelofs of Wheaton, Illinois; sister-in-law, Jane Roelofs of San Diego, California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Davis; her parents; six brothers and sisters-in-law; four sisters and brothers-in-law; two infant grandchildren, Michael and Marianne Mouw; and one infant great-grandson, Ty Kristopher Lynk.
