Anna M. Van Driessen

Anna Van Driessen, 93, of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8PM with the family present from 5-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30AM at the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church of Rural Sioux Center with Cory Van Sloten officiating. Interment will follow the service in Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the Van Driessen family prefer memorials be directed to Sioux Center Home Health and Hospice or Crown Pointe or Royale Meadows. Anna Maria (Vander Esch) Van Driessen passed away on September 1, 2012, at the Sioux Center Community Hospital at the age of 93 years, 10 months. She was born November 1, 1918, to Leendert and Maria (Haverhals) Vander Esch at rural Ireton, IA, and received her education at a country school near Hawarden, IA. She married Ernest Van Driessen on January 29, 1941, at the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church. The couple farmed near Ireton for five years and then northeast of Hawarden for 35 years. In 1980 they retired in Sioux Center, IA. Anna's beloved husband passed away on December 20, 1998, shortly before their 58th wedding anniversary. Anna moved to Crown Pointe in 2001 and Royale Meadows in 2011. Anna was a member of the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church where she was active in the Ora Et Labora Ladies Aid for many years. After retirement, she participated in the Sioux Center Coffee Break Bible Studies until she was 90 years old. Anna was instrumental in the organization of the Climbing Clovers Girls 4-H Club. Taking care of her family and home brought her great joy. Anna's hobbies included sewing, crocheting, baking, and writing poetry for special occasions. Anna is survived by six children and 18 grandchildren: Erlene and Gordon Johnson, Sioux City, IA Gail and John Brandt Jean and Mick Thares Mary Ann and Art Zylstra, Edgerton, MN Brenda and Brent Wassman Linda and Ron Van Grootheest Julie and Dean Hartle Delores and Garry Zonnefeld, Sioux Center, IA Gregg and Kristi Zonnefeld Ryan and Val Zonnefeld Carmen and Dan Huttenga Lois Hoogeveen, Sioux Falls, SD Jeff and Rachelle Hoogeveen Joni and Paul Krueger Kimberly and Jeremy Lamb Charles and Nola Van Driessen, Hawarden, IA Tina and Josh Folkerts Lori and Brent De Jong Rachel and Nathan Ronsiek Jason and Amanda Van Driessen Rosa and Gary Schepel, Sioux Falls, SD Angila Nowka Brent and Stacy Schepel Steven Schepel Additional survivors include: 41 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; three step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, two step great-great grandchildren; and her brother and his wife, Severt and Christina Vander Esch, Hawarden, IA. Anna was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons-in- law Henry Klarenbeek and James Hoogeveen; brothers: seven-year old Sebrecht, Leonard and his wife Gertrude, Henry and his wife Elizabeth; and her sisters: Marie and her husband Joe Dekkers, and infant Hendrena.
