Warren Snieder, 86, of Sioux Center, IA died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at his Sioux Center residence. A visitation will be held on Thursday at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM. A prayer service for family and friends will be Friday at 1PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2PM at the United Reformed Church, 744 N. Main Avenue, Sioux Center with Rev. Bradd L. Nymeyer officiating. In lieu of flowers or gifts the Snieder family prefers memorials to the United Reformed Church of Sioux Center or Sioux Center Christian School. Stephen Warren Snieder was born to Henry and Wilhelmina (Bonnema) Snieder on December 8, 1925 at Hawarden, Iowa. He served our country as a member of the the US Army at the end of World War II. On February 5, 1950 he was united in marriage to Harriet Ter Horst. They made their home in Sioux Center where they were blessed with four daughters. For 40 years Warren operated Snieder Pump Service in Sioux Center repairing and installing well pumps all over northwest Iowa. For many years, Warren was an active member of the Sioux Center Chamber of Commerce and served on the New Homestead Board of Commissioners. He was a past member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church of Sioux Center where he served as a deacon and elder. More recently he was a charter member of the United Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Warren served on the Sioux Center Christian School Board; as president for a period of time. He and Harriet interacted with prisoners at the Sioux Falls Penitentiary for 30 years as they participated with M2 Prison Ministry. He also was involved with Crossroads Prison Ministry. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Harriet Snieder of Sioux Center; four daughters and sons-in-law: Dawn and Herm Van Den Hul of Sioux Center, Twila and Michael Finkelstein of Coralville, IA, LuAnn and Ron Van Den Berg of Sioux Center and Linda and Loren Vogel of Bennington, NE; his 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Warren is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Marv Klomp of Rock Valley; brother and sister-in-law, Norm and Sharon Snieder of Sioux Center and sister-in-law, Lois Snieder of Orange City along with several nieces and nephews. Warren was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Burton Snieder.
