Theresa Marema

Theresa Marema, 94, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Monday April 9, 2012 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center, with the family present from 5-7PM. A prayer service for family and friends will be held on Friday at 10:15AM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Interment will follow the prayer service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 11:00AM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Theresa Marema was born August 20, 1917 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to Garnet and Minnie (Fisher) Klein. Theresa graduated from Morton High School in Cicero with the Class of 1935. Theresa married Henry Marema on September 28, 1940 in her parents' home in Cicero Illinois. She worked at Alexander Smith Company while Hank was in the Army for the next 5 years. Theresa worked at a few jobs during the next years. She later worked at Hotpoint for several years and Reynolds Tobacco Company for 25 years. When Theresa and Henry retired, they moved to Sioux Center, Iowa in 1992. Theresa was an avid reader. She was especially fond of sewing and even made her daughter's wedding dress. She also enjoyed crocheting and counted-cross stitch. Theresa was a member of the West Side Reformed Church in Cicero until 1992. There she was a Sunday School teacher and helped with many church supper events. She became a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center in 1992. Theresa spent her last days as a resident of Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Con Van Roekel of Sioux Center and two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Karen Marema of Grand Rapids, MI and David and Roxanne Marema of Aurora, IL; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law; Willard and Karen Klein of Holland, MI and sister-in-law; Annette Klein of Elmhurst, IL along with several nieces and nephews. Theresa is preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters and three brothers.
