Margaret Schutt

January 16, 1917 — March 5, 2012

Margaret Schutt, 95, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. Visitation with the family present will be held Saturday from 10-11AM at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11AM at the First Reformed Church with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Margaret (Rens) Schutt was born January 16, 1917 to Tim L. and Katherine (Doustra) Rens near Boyden, Iowa. Margaret was raised and educated in Boyden. On March 6, 1940 she was united in marriage to Gerrett Peter Schutt. Gerrett preceded Margaret in death on November 30, 2006. Following their marriage, Margaret and Gerrett farmed on the east edge of Sioux Center. Margaret loved to work with flowers and had a large variety of cactus. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. During her life Margaret enjoyed fishing and hunting excursions. She and Gerrett made traveling throughout the country a priority later in life; she was especially fond of their trip to the Holy Land. Margaret also appreciated the many winters they spent in Texas. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sharon Schutt of Spirit Lake; two granddaughters: Mindy Orris of San Bernardino, CA and Stacie (Rick) Prins of Syracuse, IN; her three great grandchildren: Joshua, Samantha and Cole Gerrett Prins along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Randall Karl Schutt; her parents; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bert and Ileta Schutt; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Margrete and John Smith, Harriet and Dick Mulder, Johanna and Henry Dykstra, Henrietta and Arnold Te Stroete.
