Allan De Groot, 59 of Sioux Center, IA died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. A Funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:30AM at the Faith Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Bernie Haan officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. There will be no visitation held. The De Groot Family prefer memorials be directed to Royale Meadows Care Center c/o the Sioux Center Community Hospital Foundation. Allan Eugene DeGroot was born March 8, 1952 to Peter and Alice De Groot in Orange City, Iowa. He was raised on a farm west of Sioux Center. For 11 years, Allan attended classes at the Special Education School in Sioux Center. In 1968, he began working at the Hope Haven workshop in Rock Valley where he worked until 1983, when his health began to fail. He was lovingly cared for by his parent for many years. In his younger years, Allan enjoyed helping on the farm and taking fishing trips with his family. On October 26, 1993, Allan became a resident of the Sioux Center Nursing Wing and later moved to Royale Meadows. He was a member of the Faith Christian Reformed Church. He is survived by his sister, Agnes "Noop" De Groot of Sioux Center; brother, John P. and his wife, Marlys De Groot of Sioux Center; nephews and nieces: Paul and Sharon DeGroot of Manchester, MO and their children: Brianna, Joshua and Luke; Jodi and Tom Holman of Medfield, MA and their children: David John, Jessica, Nicholas and Matthew; Judy and Duane Hulstein of Orange City and their children: Christopher, Jacquelyn and Kaitlyn; John M. and Fonda De Groot of Sioux Center and their children: Raymond and Savannah. Allan is preceded in death by his parents; and one nephew, Carl J. De Groot.
