Darryl Addink

Darryl Addink, 74, of Inwood, IA, formerly of Sioux Center, IA, died January 18, 2012 at Spring Days Nursing Home in Tucson, AZ. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2 pm at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center, IA with Rev. Rob Horstman officiating. Interment will be held prior to the memorial service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. In lieu of flowers and gifts the Addink family prefers memorials to the Alzheimer's Association. Darryl Wayne Addink was born in Sioux Center, IA to Dorothy (Addink) Bruinsma on September 7, 1937. He graduated from Sioux Center High School and joined the Navy after graduation. On June 7, 1960 he was united in marriage to Marie Van Olst in Rock Valley, IA. Following their marriage, they lived in California, Minnesota, and finally settled in Sioux Center, IA where he worked as a plumber and an electrician. He was the proud father of four children: Mark, Maria, Pam, and Trish. He was married to Marie for 27 years before she died January 26, 1987. On May 26, 1990 Darryl married Shirley Schoep Van Regenmorter. After living in Sioux Center for many years, they settled in Inwood, IA where they were self employed. Darryl enjoyed racing stock cars in figure eight races, bowling on Tuesday night league, and restoring classic cars. He was a member of the Midnight Oil Street Rodders for many years. After retirement, he enjoyed golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Those left to cherish Darryl's memory are his wife Shirley Addink of Inwood; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jackie Addink of Minnetonka, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Jeff Youngblut of Oskaloosa, IA and their children Michael and Kelsey; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Kelly Marrujo of Denver, CO and their children Mario and Michael; and daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Greg Patchin of Tucson, AZ and their children Noah, Carter and Olivia. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Jim Hanisch of Upland, CA along with his stepchildren: Paula and Icaro Van Goes of Antioch, TN; Chad and Jody Van Regenmorter of Inwood and their daughters: Rebecca and Emily; and Brent and Lisa Van Regenmorter of Inwood and their children: Ethan, Kendra and Cody. Darryl is preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Addink; mother, Dorothy Bruinsma; and step-granddaughter, Kaylee Jean Van Regenmorter.
