George Feekes

George Feekes, 85 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Royale Meadows Care Center of Sioux Center. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30AM - 10:30AM at Carmel Reformed Church of Rural Rock Valley, Iowa. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30AM at the Carmel Reformed Church with Rev. Mark Heijerman officiating. Interment will follow in the Carmel Cemetery of Rural Rock Valley. The Feekes Family prefers memorials to Royale Meadows Care Center c/o Sioux Center Community Hospital Foundation or Carmel Reformed Church. George Feekes was born January 11, 1926 to Gradus and Rena (Vanden Hull) Feekes in Sioux Center. The Feekes family lived on a farm north of Sioux Center and George attended country school through the 8th grade. George served his country in the US Army from 1945 to 1947. After returning from the service he lived in Sioux City where he was an independent truck driver for a number of years. He was known for his love of a good deal and enjoyed going to auctions. George made a business out of buying and selling a variety of items over the years. He was a lifetime member of the Carmel Reformed Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. George will lovingly be remembered by his siblings: Ted Feekes of Peterson, IA, Winnie Scholten of Steen, MN and Gerrit and Marie Feekes of Avoca, IA; sister-in-law, Jeanne Feekes of Sheldon, IA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Matilda and her husbands, Art Moss and Bert Regnerus; brother, Robert Feekes; sister-in-law; Ida Fae Feekes and brother-in-law, Dennis Scholten.
