Roland "George" Dorhout, 70, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 6-8PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11AM at the Lebanon Christian Reformed Church of rural Sioux Center with Rev. Duane Tinklenberg officiating. Interment will be held in Lebanon Cemetery at a later date. Roland "George" Dorhout was born on August 3, 1941 to Samuel and Mary (Rynders) Dorhout in Sioux Center, Iowa. He attended and graduated Sioux Center High School in 1959. He married Judy Campbell of Akron, Iowa on November 9, 1962. George was a lifelong resident of Sioux Center. He started farming with his father in 1962 near Lebanon, Iowa. He built and operated R.G.'s Lounge in Sioux Center in the early 80's until he sold the business and resumed farming. He also operated Dorhout Welding. George was an inventor at heart, as he loved tinkering in his welding shop. He loved playing cards, video and computer games. He enjoyed socializing with friends and looked forward to his daily coffee with his fellow neighbors. He especially loved spending time with his three grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Judy; his two daughters: Marsha Dorhout of West Des Moines, IA and Lynette Dorhout of Hudson, SD; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Bonnema, Brandon Bonnema, and Dustin Falkema; nine siblings, Evelyn (Dorhout) Hendersen of Price, Utah, Larry Dorhout of Humboldt, IA, Ruth (Dorhout) Engelbert of Edina, MN, Arnold Dorhout of Palm Springs, CA, Marlin Dorhout of Denver, CO, Wendell Dorhout of Beresford, SD, Don Dorhout of Sioux Center, IA, Ken Dorhout of Virginia Beach, VA, and Galen "Sam" Dorhout of Seguin, TX . He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Harv Dorhout and Warren Dorhout and his son, Curt Dorhout.
