Lambert Beyer

Lambert Beyer, 93, of Hull, Iowa died Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Sanford Sheldon Senior Care Center in Sheldon. A visitation will be held Monday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10AM at the Demco Community Center in Boyden, IA. Interment will follow the service in Hope Cemetery of Hull, IA. Lambert Herman Beyer was born February 20, 1918 to William and Tillie (Wissink) Beyer on the family farm south of Hull, Iowa. He attended a country school located on the corner of the farm. On June 7, 1941 Lambert was united in marriage to Lucile Stegemann at Spirit Lake, Iowa. He farmed with his father until he was called into the US Army Air Corps on August 18, 1942. Lambert was stationed at Bolling Field near Washington, DC where he served as a mechanic during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1944 he farmed and worked various jobs in the Boyden and Matlock, Iowa area. He and Lucile made their home on the farm until October of 2011 when they became residents of Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa. Lambert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lucile Beyer of Sheldon; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Robin) Beyer of Hull; two grandchildren: Richard "Dick" Beyer of Rock Valley and Kathy De Bey of Rock Valley; step-grandson, George Beyer of Hull and five great grandchildren. Lambert is also survived by three sisters: Ellen Kain of Berkley, MI, Hilda Powers of Waterford, MI and Edna Braaksma of Sheldon; extended family: sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and John Beyer of Boyden and their family, Leah, Jeffrey, Melissa, Caitlyn and Colton; sisters-in-law: Agnes Stegemann of Goose Creek, SC, and Gwenda Stegemann of Matlock; brother-in-law, Gus Paulson of Spencer. Lambert was preceded in death by an infant son, Wayne Beyer; his parents; two sisters: Marie (Elmer) Jansma and Annetta (Sperry) Wegter; a brother, Willis (Grace) Beyer; brothers-in-law, Eddie Kain, Raymond Powers, Gerard Braaksma, Harold Stegemann, Elmer Stegemann; and sister-in-law, Emma Paulson. Early in their marriage Lambert and Lucile accepted the teachings of Jesus Christ and chose Christian fellowship as their way of life; opening their home for fellowship worship each Sunday for nearly 60 years.
