Raymond Miller, 89, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital of Sioux Center. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8PM, with the family present from 5-7PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30AM the Peace Lutheran Church of rural Sioux Center with Rev. Glen Peterson officiating. Interment will follow the service in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. The Miller family prefer memorials be directed to Peace Lutheran Church or Crown Pointe Assisted Living c/o The Sioux Center Community Hospital Foundation. Raymond, son of Frank and Amanda (Schuldt) Miller was born in Sioux County on September 17, 1922. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in rural Sioux Center. He attended rural school and graduated from Rock Valley High School in 1940. Raymond married Arleen Moore on June 3, 1948 at Peace Lutheran Church and together they farmed 8 miles west of Sioux Center from March 1949 to January 1988 at which time they moved to Sioux Center. After retirement Raymond continued to assist with the farming activities for many years. He was a lifelong active member of Peace Lutheran and served as Sunday School superintendent, Deacon, and held various offices on both the church council and Men's Brotherhood. Raymond was also the chairman of Siouxland Marketing Board, a member of Farmers Coop Society Board in Sioux Center for 9 years and Sioux County Cattle Feeders president for 3 years. He was a lifelong farmer dedicated to tilling the soil and feeding cattle. Raymond & Arleen loved to travel and had many wonderful memories of their adventures. He greatly valued time spent with his children, grandchildren and great -grandchildren. Raymond is survived by his wife, Arleen; two sons, Warren Miller and his wife, Elaine of Mount Hope, Kansas and Gregg Miller and his wife, Sharon of Sioux Center; brother, Fred Miller and his wife Alice of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Elinor Quarnstrom and her husband Ted, Lois Jean Rollings and her husband Roy all of Hudson, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Donna Miller of Hawarden, Iowa; six grandchildren and spouses; eleven great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Amanda (Schuldt) Miller and two brothers, Robert Miller and Arnold Miller.
