Cornelia Kroon, 96 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Monday, October31, 2011 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital of Sioux Center. A visitation will be held Thursday at the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center beginning at 10AM. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11AM in the Chapel of First Reformed Church with Rev. Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. In lieu of Flowers the Kroon family prefer memorials be directed to First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Cornelia Kroon was born, July 13, 1915 to Henry D. and Hattie (Van Roekel) Kroon on the family farm near Perkins, Iowa. She received her education through the eighth grade in Sioux County rural schools. As a young lady, "Ceil" as she was known by her family and friends, enjoyed helping with the various chores on the farm. She was a hard worker and could pick corn with the best of them. Ceil cleaned homes for a number of years as well as providing care for her parents. In the early 1940's, the Kroon family moved into Sioux Center when her father, Henry, was diagnosed with cancer. Cornelia continued to live with her mother after her father's death. She had a compassionate and giving personality, always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She was a longtime member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center and was a member of a circle. In her free time, Ceil enjoyed reading and listening to music. She was a big fan of sports and loved to watch basketball on television. Left to cherish her memory are, her brother and sister-in-law, Rev. William and Marjorie Kroon of Hampton, Iowa; two sisters: Margaret Voortman of Hull, IA and Clarene Kroon of Sioux Center; sister and brother-in-law, Arlone and Wilbur Vos of Sioux Center as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are brothers and sisters-in-law: Cornelius and Wilhelmina Kroon, Gerrit and Mary Kroon, Richard and Anna Kroon; sister, Marilyn Kroon; sisters and brothers-in-law: Gertrude and Peter Punt, Della and Henry Van De Berg and Bernice and Henry Baker.
